Six months on from the publication of its inaugural strategic plan, the NICC has released its first delivery report.
Chief Commissioner Philip Crawford said the NICC has come a long way in a short period of time.
“The work to establish the NICC was impressive, both in the speed at which the agency came together and the presence it has achieved in public and regulatory domains,” Mr Crawford said.
“The NICC has materialised as an efficient, connected and independent entity, enacting significant change in its first year of operation.”
The February report highlights some of the NICC’s priority projects under its strategic plan to establish the new regulator and modernise NSW casino regulation. The report shows the NICC’s step by step work towards remediating NSW casinos.
“Intensive groundwork has been needed to rebuild casino regulation to the extent recommended by the inquiries.”
“We have tightened regulatory controls and enhanced our supervisory tools to make it harder and less attractive for criminals to exploit the industry and for casinos to take on risky customers or ignore potential harms.”
The NICC intends to release its delivery reports every six months to underscore its commitment to transparency and accountability, and to communicate the groundwork that goes into the casino regulatory effort.
